The study was conducted from July to October 2024 and involved 4,000 IT specialists from various sectors, including retail, manufacturing, telecommunications and information technology.

The survey showed that specialists most often do not answer calls from recruiters and hiring managers (18% of respondents), lie about past work experiences (16% of respondents) and do not attend pre-arranged interviews (13 % of responses).

At the same time, in the information technology industry (1,000 respondents), candidates more often exaggerate their work experience than in other areas (20% of cases) and do not complete the test tasks sent to them ( 21% of respondents). Additionally, 6% of respondents reported passing off their colleagues’ achievements as their own.

At the same time, job seekers demand a lot from employers, according to the study. 80% of respondents said that they did not like the organization of the interviews: the employer was late, the meeting rooms were uncomfortable or the absence of people to greet them at the entrance to the company office. Candidates are also discouraged by long breaks between interviews (80% of responses), multi-stage selection (78%) and excessive complexity of test items.

The study also shows that employers, given the record shortage of personnel in the labor market, are now less likely to refuse to hire a candidate if they identify inaccurate information on their part, said Marina Ignatova, head of market research at HeadHunter. . Forbes. Furthermore, according to her, the proportion of applicants who hide past experiences is constantly increasing: in the last five years it has risen from 53% to 64%;

According to the hh.ru study “Labor Market 2024” (available on RB.RU), the labor shortage in the Russian economy is estimated at 1.6 million people. Applicants surveyed by the service rated the IT industry as the most prestigious in 49% of cases (the oil and gas industry came in second at 42%).
