Referring to a large-scale study in which 400 thousand people participated, the expert showed that drinking coffee for 12-13 years reduced the risk of early death. The strongest effect was observed in participants who drank four to five cups of the beverage per day.
According to Stebbing, coffee helps protect against heart disease and stroke, liver disease, cancer, neurodegenerative diseases and type 2 diabetes. Coffee is also beneficial for mental health. Additionally, the expert noted that coffee reduces the risk of depression by 20%.
“This longevity effect can be explained by the cumulative effect of coffee’s properties that protect against various diseases,” the expert explained.
