Otkritie bank, which is completing its integration with VTB, will earn at least 1.7 billion rubles for the old ATMs, RB.RU reported. More than 4.6 thousand devices were auctioned, which will take place on December 20, a figure comparable to the total number of ATMs in the Otkritie network.

The ATMs will be sold in a gradual auction in 12 lots ranging in size from 3 to 10 up to 1,467 devices each. The company also requested price proposals for 4 thousand devices, as follows from the Kontur.Purchases materials.
The ATMs offered for sale have a useful life of 4 to 7 years, according to Otkritie materials. Among them are several modifications of the German Wincor Nixdorf, the American NCR and the Japanese Oki Recycler. Some of the devices are located in the Alliance ATM warehouse in the village of Aparinki, Moscow Region.
At the end of 2023, Otkritie’s annual report estimated the number of ATMs in the network at 3.8 thousand devices.
VTB commented on Otkritie’s plans (the bank will be integrated into the group at the end of 2024).
“The unified network of VTB ATMs, which includes Otkritie Bank ATMs, already reaches 21 thousand. To improve the quality of customer service, we are replacing obsolete equipment with new ones, expanding the usual functionality, speed and convenience of use for customers,” the bank explained.
Customers will not be left without ATMs; They will be able to use VTB and RNKB devices, as can be seen from the Otkritie materials.
“Retired ATMs may be useful for specialist players who wish to invest in upgrading them, or in cases where the high cost of new devices makes the purchase of used ATMs economically viable. However, in the context of general digitalization and the shift to online formats, a significant part of large companies will prefer to partner with banks rather than create their own ATM network,” Igor Rastorguev told RB.RU, Amarkets lead analyst.
According to Rastorguev, the devices may be necessary for small banks and regional credit organizations, payment systems and microfinance organizations, mainly in the regions.
“This allows you to save on creating your own network to work with clients in regions where the demand for cash transactions is still high,” said the expert.
Buyers will have to update the software and adapt the devices to regulations, the expert added.
As reported by RB.RU, the Ozon market decided to create its own ATM network in 2025. For now, this is a pilot project and we can talk about dozens of devices. Rastorguev believes that these ATMs are needed more to expand a brand’s presence, such as advertising surfaces or customer interaction points.
