Chinese police have begun testing the spherical robot Rotunbot RT-G from Logon Technology.
The device can be improved and maintain speeds of up to 35 km/h both on land and in water. By itself, it weighs about 135 kg, and a proprietary gyroscopic system is responsible for stabilization.
The robot can chase the surroundings, navigate in space using an abundance of cameras, a GPS system, and analyze the environment using artificial intelligence.
Rotunbot is able to overcome small heights no higher than the knee, calmly copes with mud and light off-road conditions, and also quickly overcomes water obstacles.
Equipment includes: tear gas, smoke bombs, sound sirens, acoustic means for crowd dispersal and networks for detaining suspects at close range.
For now, the robot is controlled remotely, but in the future it will become completely autonomous. [New Atlas]
