The decision was made within the framework of the localization of the Russian division. The company emphasized that the changes will only affect the name and logo. The product range, formulas and price positioning will remain the same.
Akzo Nobel noted that the changes will also affect other brands of paints and varnishes of the manufacturer on the Russian market: Pinotex, Hammerite, Marshall. The rebrand will take place during the first half of 2025.
Following the launch of a special military operation in eastern Ukraine, Amsterdam-based AkzoNobel issued an official statement indicating its intention to reduce the scale of its presence in Russia without harming its employees. The company completely ceased its business in boat and yacht coatings, automotive repair coatings and aerospace coatings. In addition, production was partially reduced in the sectors of industrial coatings, packaging and wood finishing, as well as powder coatings.
At the same time, AkzoNobel separately stressed that the Russian division does not receive any financial transactions from the company’s parent structure and is “completely localized and protected.” The only profile of the Russian business of the Dutch company remains the production of decorative paints.
In 2020, AkzoNobel owned three production plants in Russia, generating about 2% of total revenue.
Previously, Libress gasket manufacturer EvoKom LLC announced the brand name change to Libretta. The transition is explained by the desire to reorient the business towards Russian consumers.
