We are talking about graduates of Yandex joint programs with Russian universities, the School of Data Analysis, IT areas of Yandex Practicum, Yandex Lyceum, seasonal schools and company interns.
In total, this year almost 60 thousand future IT specialists studied in Yandex educational programs.
The company highlighted that the number of students in the company’s bachelor’s, master’s and postgraduate programs, as well as the School of Data Analysis, doubled compared to the previous academic year and exceeded 10 thousand people. Currently, Yandex cooperates with 33 partner universities in 12 regions of Russia.
In early December, the head of the Ministry of Digital Development, Maksut Shadayev, announced that the ministry intends to attract up to 700,000 developers to the IT sector until 2030 to combat personnel shortages.
The department also proposed to compel accredited IT companies to provide a mandatory amount of teaching in universities and internships for students. In mid-November, Kommersant sources in the IT market spoke about this initiative. According to them, support for universities will be mandatory for companies with revenues of one billion rubles, otherwise the organization faces the loss of state accreditation and related benefits.
