“Next year, to maintain the reliability of the ISS <...> The third addition to the agreement between Roscosmos and NASA on integrated crew flights to the ISS will be signed,” the statement said.
It follows that a total of five flights are planned. In 2025-2026, NASA astronauts will travel to the ISS on the Soyuz MS-28 and Soyuz MS-29 spacecraft, and in 2025-2027, Roscosmos cosmonauts will travel on the Crew Dragon spacecraft produced by Elon’s SpaceX Musk.
On December 24, Roscosmos head Yuri Borisov said the Russian state corporation had agreed with NASA on the expected timeline for completing the ISS. The Russian government plans to use the station until 2028, but Roscosmos allowed an extension of its useful life. NASA has extended it until 2030.
In addition, in 2028 Roscosmos will begin manned flights to the new Russian orbital station. “In 2027 we will launch the first module, the scientific and experimental modules, then the entry and docking module, then the base module, and the completion of the station formation will occur in 2032-2033,” Borisov noted. .
