Apple has added warning labels to the packaging and AirTag itself to comply with Reese’s Law requirements. It requires the posting of advisories regarding products containing button batteries that pose a hazard if swallowed by children.
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) noted that AirTags imported after March 19, 2024 did not initially receive advance warning. Apple has now updated the AirTag’s battery compartment to include warning symbols and changed the packaging to include the required warning labels and symbols. In addition, the Find My app has updated battery replacement instructions.
Apple released AirTag in 2021 and is rumored to be planning to release a new version in 2025. [The Verge]
