Kaplan is known to have served as White House deputy chief of staff during the George W. Bush administration and joined Meta* in 2011. Recently, Kaplan has been communicating quite closely with Trump and his vice president JD Vance.

So despite his differences with the president-elect, Mark Zuckerberg is clearly trying to build a bond with him, both through campaign donations and changes to his team.

Kevin Martin, former Republican chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, will fill the vacant position as vice president of global policy at Meta*.
