The Ministry of Economic Development is going to extend the experimental regime of the law for Russian Post regarding the flights of unmanned aerial vehicles for three years.
This regime was introduced to organize postal and cargo transportation, as well as perform aerial work using unmanned aerial systems (UAS), including the delivery of goods to remote and hard-to-reach regions. The EPR creates temporary exceptions from current legislation that allow tests to be carried out and test reports to be drawn up.
Currently, within the framework of 10 EPR, drone flights are allowed in “green” zones, covering 24 regions, including Moscow, Moscow and Tomsk regions, Chukotka, Kamchatka, Khanty-Mansi and Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrugs and others.
According to representatives of Russian Post, the experiment helps evaluate the capabilities of drone developers, manufacturers and operators for organizing air delivery in various regions. Over 3 years of testing, the company tested several new UAS models to operate in difficult climate and climate conditions.
Extending the EPR will allow us to attract new developers, simplify the process, allow UAS into operation and ensure their use in flights. [Ведомости]
