This is a notable shift for *Instagram, as Mosseri previously said in July that longer videos could conflict with the platform’s goal of connecting people with friends. The changes also coincide with TikTok, which publishes 3-minute videos in 2021, facing a potential ban in the US.
The 90-second limit was implemented more than two years ago, and although Instagram has experimented with videos up to 10 minutes in length, longer videos remain exclusive to non-Reels posts.
