Google announced on Monday (20) Availability of Gemini AI extensions in more languages, including Portugueseto facilitate access to information and complete tasks across the search giant’s applications and services. They can be used on both mobile devices and PC.
Compatible with Gmail, YouTube, Maps, Drive and other company apps, Gemini extensions add new features to Google’s generative AI. Once activated, the chatbot can directly interact with the selected service by receiving certain commands.
You can use Gemini to search for a lasagna recipe sent to your Gmail account and ask it to add the ingredients to a shopping list in the Keep app. You can also ask the bot when an anticipated movie will be released and create a reminder to purchase tickets in advance.
In another example shared by Google, a user photographs a flyer for a show and asks the AI if their schedule is free on the date of the performance. This can create a reminder so they don’t forget to buy the ticket. In this way, interaction with technology becomes more personal.
How to add extensions to Gemini?
To enable Gemini extensions, you need to open the AI app or access the web version of the service, go to the “Settings” menu and click on “Extensions”. It will then be possible to check the available options and enable or disable them according to the user’s wishes.
Some are enabled by default, such as “Travel”, which integrates the bot with Google Hotels, Google Maps, and Google Flights, and “Media”, which associates AI with YouTube and YouTube Music. There are also “Productivity” extensions for Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Keep, Tasks, and Docs.
