iRobot will be compatible with Siri, expand its options and use your robot vacuum cleaner in a much more comfortable way.

Having a smart vacuum cleaner is fortunately a very affordable thing. IRobot, the leading brand in robot vacuum cleaners and the mother of famous Roomba robots, announced that it is working to update its iRobot Genius 4.0 Home Intelligence software to be used with Siri. That is, if you are using an iPhone or iPad+You can give voice commands for the robots to execute instantly. There is no doubt that it is a nice development that will help you use these accessories in a much more comfortable way.

New improvements to differentiate your experience

In the words of Keith Hartsfield, iRobot product manager, “The magic of iRobot Genius is that our robots get smarter over time, constantly providing customers with new ways to clean where, when and how they want. From the day a customer accepts a Roomba robot vacuum or a Braava mop into their home, it’s always new. They know they’re going to benefit from features and functions. They’re also getting a robot that works harder for them.”

What will this update make possible?

  • Clean the rooms you want: we always need to clean specific rooms, not the whole house. Now make this possible in a much more convenient way.
  • Clean each room to your liking: You already know that passing the robot to the living room is not the same as moving to the kitchen. The latter will need to be used more extensively, so you can command the robot to be more persistent on such floors.
  • Tell Siri to send Roomba to clean: you can create your own personalized emoticons so you can tell Siri your robot needs to clean the bathroom or kids bedroom. With these voice commands, all you have to do is talk to your iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch or Mac to make the order happen.
  • Avoid accidental starts: Extremely useful in case you have small children or pets in your home. The function is to disable the physical button labeled Clean, preventing the device from starting when pressed.
  • Do Not Disturb Function: With this facility, the user can configure the robot to not be activated at certain times. If you’re one of those people who like to take naps or don’t want the vacuum to kick in at night, this function will disable it completely.

We’ll have to wait until June of this year for that. The robot vacuum cleaner is finally compatible with Siri. If the experience of using this type of accessory is already great and keeps you from overworking, you’ll have a better feeling when Siri can control it.
