The UK Competition and Markets Authority has launched an investigation into Apple and Google.
The agency will study the work of the App Store and Google Play, as well as hostility towards application developers.
Special officials discuss the following issues:
▶︎ Increasing competition between the Apple and Google mobile ecosystems
▶︎ Possible use of market power by Apple and Google for other purposes. For example, to distribute your applications and browsers.
▶︎ The presence of unfair conditions for developers
The investigation will last until October 22, 2025. It could result in fines and requirements, such as allowing payments for in-app purchases to bypass Apple and Google’s payment systems. [9to5Mac]
