In the Patriarch’s Ponds area, 53% of the restaurants that opened in 2015 and closed before 2024 did not last even a year, reports Forbes, citing a study by Commonwealth Partnership (CMWP). 16% of the establishments closed in one or two years, 19% in three or four and only 12% could survive five years or more.

In spite of this, during the last 10 years new establishments have been opened in the area. “The popularity of this category of services continues to increase: from 2015 to 2025, the proportion of establishments increased by 11 percentage points and reached 39%,” said Poly Poly, Chief of the CMWP Research and Analysis Department.

The authors of the study clarified that the half -life of the restaurants closed in the patriarch is three years, while the establishments in operation have an average age of six years. The survival of restaurants, according to analysts, depends largely on the concept, whose success is tested by time.
Restoration farms are more resistant to crises: in January 2025, 77% of public restoration establishments existing in Patriarch’s ponds belonged to chains or farms. Among the establishments closed in the last 10 years, only 43% of the establishments are classified as holdings and networks, said Afanasyeva.
Previously, in January, the Bacardi Rus and Campari Rus companies, which supply the Bacardi, Oakheart, Aperol, Cinzano and Campari alcohol brands, notified the Russian restaurants that would increase the sales prices between 5% and 20% in principle of 2025. Suppliers cite the weakening of the ruble and the increase in special taxes on some types of alcohol as reasons of the increase.
