The State Market Administration (SAMR) of China began an antitrust investigation against Google, says the website of the department. This happened almost immediately after the president of the United States, Donald Trump, introduced additional tariffs on the import of RPC goods, says Bloomberg.

The Samr report says that Google is suspected of violating China’s antitrust legislation. What actions of the US company caused the investigation, the department did not specify.
According to the head of the Department of Capital Economy in the Chinese economy, Julian Protchard, an investigation against Google can end without sanctions against the company.
At the end of last week, Trump introduced additional 25% tariffs for imports in Canada and Mexico and 10% for China imports. Canada Energy Resources will be taxed with a reduced duty of 10%.
According to CNBC, Google has not provided its search and Internet services in the RPC since 2010, but retains other activities in the country, including Chinese companies in the deployment of online advertising in Google resources abroad.
In 2020, Reuters sources announced the plans of the Chinese authorities to begin an investigation against Google. According to the agency’s interlocutors, the company wanted to blame the dominant position of its Android operating system.
