The new study, published in the journal Cureus, involved more than 550 college students at the university. It turned out that 32.8 percent of them were not as physically active as predicted by the World Health Organization.
Also, oddly enough, the majority of resident students were doctors (37.3%). This rate is 25% for those trained in non-medical specialties.
Overall, those studying to become doctors were 63.5% more likely to lead a sedentary lifestyle than students in other disciplines.
Scientists state that high academic workload and smoking are among the risk factors for this trend.
