PS5 lead architect Mark Cerny and AMD GPU head Jack Huynh said the key innovation will be Neural Arrays, AI computing clusters that speed up rendering and boost it to “nearly cinematic levels.”
AMD also introduced a new Radiance architecture, a counterpart to NVIDIA’s RTX cores, that will improve ray tracing and texture rendering. Neural Radiance Caching technology will apply artificial intelligence for more realistic lighting and reflections in real time.
Additionally, the updated delta color compression (DCC) algorithm will increase performance without increasing power consumption.
According to insider information, PS6 is still in its infancy, but Sony is already betting on artificial intelligence and maximum visual fidelity for next-generation games.
