According to the expert, watermelon is contraindicated for diabetics, as they have a high glycemic index. With caution, these products should be eaten by people with obesity – they contain a lot of heavy sugar.

One of the dangers is allergies. Although cases of melon and watermelon allergies are extremely rare, weed pollen is formed during flowering, which can be mistaken for pumpkin pollen. Therefore, allergy sufferers should carefully monitor the body’s reactions when eating melon and watermelon.

No less dangerous are nitrates and pesticides. Nitrates are often given to fruit by fertilizers in the same way as pesticides; accumulates in the bark and the immature green part adjacent to it. Nitrate concentration is more typical for early fruit than those harvested in late summer or autumn. Pesticides can cause rapid poisoning, and nitrates build up in the body, causing chronic poisoning over time, which can then lead to cancer.

Also, because these foods have a diuretic effect, watermelon and melon should be eaten with caution by pregnant women, “but a reasonable portion – a few pieces a day – will help reduce swelling and heartburn.”

In addition, watermelon and melon should not be eaten in indigestion, acute pancreatitis and other serious diseases of the pancreas, stones in the internal organs, swelling, diarrhea, colic, severe prostate diseases and genitourinary system disorders.
