“Barriers only harm development”: Uzbekistan no longer restricts foreign social networks

The press service of the Presidency’s Information and Mass Media Agency states, “From today, unhindered access to social networks Twitter, WeChat and VKontakte has been completely reinstated on the territory of our country … Blockages only harm development” is in question.

The agency is also discussing terms of unblocking with TikTok.

In Uzbekistan, Twitter, TikTok, VKontakte and WeChat are blocked for violating the Personal Data Law, which states that all Internet resources operating in the country must store citizens’ personal data on local servers.
