The study authors first created a mathematical model by measuring the impact of the dive head, arms forward and feet forward. It showed that in beginners, spinal cord and neck injuries are more likely to occur on first dives from a height of 8 meters. Meanwhile, collarbone injuries are more likely when diving forward with your hands from a height of about 12 meters, and knee injuries are more likely when diving forward with your legs more than 15 meters.

In general, it turned out that it is better to jump into the water from a great height with your feet.
