It’s not just about beauty: a duller color threatens the birds’ survival as they rely on their looks to lure mates.
Scientists have suggested that environmental changes, and in particular, an increase in temperature (1.23 degrees Celsius) and a decrease in precipitation (0.64 mm) lead to a decrease in the brightness of the blue tit color.
Other bird species are also adapting to the changes. A recent study showed that their beaks can grow and their body size can vary.
