White sugar is a disaccharide (a type of carbohydrate) made up of fructose and glucose. In another way, white sugar is called sucrose. It is found in a variety of fruits, vegetables and nuts.

There is natural sugar and there is added sugar. It occurs naturally in natural, whole grains and is used as an ingredient in beverages and canned foods.

After a person eats sugar, it is broken down into fructose and glucose. The first substance is processed in the liver, the second is absorbed by the cells, and for this they need insulin. One gram of sucrose contains 4 calories.

Brown sugar is processed white sugar to which molasses (a syrup made from sugar) has been added.

In fact, brown sugar won’t help you lose weight at all. It is also similar to white in terms of assimilation.

At the same time, experts from the Healthline portal note that brown contains slightly more sugar than white, potassium, calcium and iron. In general, the amount of these substances is too small for brown sugar to be considered a source of vitamins. It also has slightly fewer calories: 15 calories (1 teaspoon or 4 g) versus 16.3 calories.

Representatives of the Consumer Protection Center in Bavaria emphasize that it is impossible to think that brown sugar is healthier than white sugar. This is because the energy values of these products are the same. Also, both types of sugar can cause tooth decay.
