Apple has begun selling parts for self-repairing MacBooks.

Spare parts are sold at the company’s partner store Self-Service Repair Shop. Mac owners purchased screens, tracks, batteries, fans, Touch ID, and protection boards.

Parts are available for every MacBook Air and Pro with M1, M1 Pro and M1 Max processors, even an external board for MacBook Pro 16 with M1 Max, 64 GB RAM and 8 TB SSD.

Display for MacBook Air will cost $ 395, including the return of old parts. The battery for the same laptop costs $119. In comparison, a battery replacement at an authorized service center costs $129, so the savings are very small, assuming there is any. All repair tools can be bought separately or rented from a self-service repair shop.

Also in the store there is information about the mail to repair the MacBook.

So far, you can only buy spare parts for self-repair of MacBooks in the United States. Later this year, Apple introduced a visual program in Europe. [9to5Mac]
