A few weeks ago, Folio Photonics startup director Steven Santamaria told Forbes that his company has mastered an 8-layer optical disc enclosure. Now, he’s revealed the same 16-bit technology that the developers hope to achieve. This is the first time I’ve seen Blu-Ray discs before today.
As Santamaria told reporters, he gathered talented engineers who surpassed “historical sources” in the development of optical storage media. They sat down to provide “unprecedented cost, cybersecurity and strength advantages.” These drives are immune to
Importantly, the new storage media are compact – they do not exceed the size of the Nintendo card parks. Santamaria intends to challenge existing cloud storage and streaming to bring back personal physical media to the market. There is no word yet on a release date or price for these discs. reported.
