The film has its own merits, not counting The Rock, which already attracts to the screen with its charisma alone. While a lot of the dialogue has nothing to do with it, there are also gaudy jokes that highlight a particular situation or make fun of superhero clichés. The tone of the picture itself moves in waves, either going into severity and seriousness, or diluting it with light humor.
Of the minuses, I will note frankly weak superheroes from Justice Society. Weak not in ability, but in elaboration and originality. They literally duplicate the features of their own DC or even Marvel universe. Here you have the Falcon, and Doctor Strange, and Ant-Man in a suit a la Deadpool.
None of the characters are memorable. And Strange’s counterpart in Pierce Brosnan is especially upsetting. The actor got used to the role well, but frankly there was nothing to play – this is an empty dummy for one film that plays the engine of the plot.
