The Kickshare Whoosh service plans to develop its own electric scooter model and launch it on the market in 2024 or 2025. Dmitry Chuiko, CEO of the electric scooter rental service, told reporters about this.

“We want to make our own scooter model in the future in 2024-2025. Here in Russia. We are already doing the assembly ourselves, a designer comes to us, we assemble it. About 15% of components and components are produced in Russia. We will increase that percentage and we will produce in the country what is economically feasible”, said Chuiko.

Whoosh plans to manufacture components for its own use only, with no plans to sell them to third parties.

According to Chuiko, Whoosh already has an electric scooter, assembled on the basis of a Chinese model, which has its own dashboard (the upper module with a screen where information is displayed), as well as its own computer vision module, which is able to recognize pedestrians on sidewalks and crosswalks.

“In the future, we are planning our own model, which will be assembled from localized components, where the nodes will be updated to make the model work more efficiently,” added the CEO of the service.

Earlier, Yandex announced the development of its own electric scooter. Whoosh emphasized that they support the development of the market and the presence of big players in it.

According to the company, the size of the kicksharing market by 2026 may reach 96 billion rubles.

Now Whoosh has about 12 million users, it is represented in 40 cities of Russia and the CIS. After the initial public offering, Whoosh plans to expand to 73 more locations.
