The technology consists in laying an additional heating layer under the asphalt, equipped with heaters and a network of sensors. This layer can be easily rolled from a roll and used in road construction.

Experts believe that the technology they have invented will make it possible to combat ice in terms of ecology, economy and road service life. At the same time, the service life of the highway increases due to the regular drying of the asphalt and the prevention of cracks and potholes. In addition, the developers of the technology are confident that “significant savings in street cleaning will be achieved” due to the heating of the roads. But according to experts, their invention has the main drawback – high cost.

It was also noted that the heating system will be connected to the air service for rapid response in case of precipitation. And power consumption may vary depending on this factor.

“The technology consists of laying an additional layer containing heaters and a network of sensors that monitor the current temperature of the road. During construction, it is enough to unroll it from a roll and lay it down, ”explained Kirill Tyuryukhanov, Associate Professor of the Department of Automobile Roads and Bridges.
