Yandex registered in Armenia and the United States a new holding structure, Beyond ML, which owns a dozen tech startups in the field of machine learning (ML) around the world, RTVI discovered.
Legally, the company is registered in the names of Yandex top managers Maxim Zagrebin and Dmitry Stepanov. At the same time, according to the sources of the edition, Beyond ML was created to level the “country risks” and continue the work of “Yandex” in Europe and the United States.
The Yandex press service confirmed that Beyond ML is a company project, calling it an “internal experiment.” At the same time, in the documents of the parent company of Yandex – Yandex NV – Beyond ML is never mentioned.
RTVI, citing an extract from the register of legal entities of Armenia, reports that Beyond ML was registered in Yerevan on March 30, 2022. The publication’s source notes that at the weekly meeting of Yandex employees, Zagrebin explained that Beyond ML was created for international projects.
“It is important for customers that the data is processed outside of Russia. Therefore, we transfer everything to other clouds. But the most important thing here is the quality of the product: if we can offer such cool technology that it will blow your mind, then they will talk to us and our legal setups will come in handy. For us, this is a priority. For example, they continue to communicate with us from Europe and the USA. They really need our product, so they are ready to solve all technical problems, ”RTVI quotes a transcript of the meeting of the internal service of Yandex.

- Yandex and its founder are now in the process of separating assets. The main legal entity Yandex NV will change its name and leave the shareholders of the Russian Yandex, having received the opportunity to develop a number of foreign businesses under new brands.
