If Bloomberg can’t reach an agreement with Rupert Murdoch, the ultimate owner of The WSJ, then he might consider another option: buying The Washington Post, which is in fact owned by Jeff Bezos.
Axios writes about Michael Bloomberg’s plans, citing a source close to the billionaire.
According to the publication, the main owner of Bloomberg is considering the purchase of Dow Jones Corporation, whose “daughter” is The Wall Street Journal. The acquisition will help media mogul Bloomberg expand his empire, according to Axios.
As an alternative, Bloomberg is considering buying The Washington Post. Ultimately, WP is owned by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, while The WSJ is owned by Rupert Murdoch. It will be difficult for Bloomberg to negotiate a deal with both, Axios said.
Media mogul, billionaire and former New York mayor Michael Bloomberg is one of the richest businessmen on the planet with a fortune of $76 billion according to Forbes. Bloomberg owns 88% of Bloomberg, which he founded in 1981.
