The Belgian Ministry of Finance allowed the release of NSD assets hung in deposits

Vladimir Chistyukhin, First Vice President of the Bank of Russia, announced the license issued by the Belgian Ministry of Finance to unlock the National Settlement Depository (NSD) assets frozen in international deposits.

The license issued by the Belgian Ministry of Finance will be valid until January 7, 2023. NSD is currently trying to understand the essence of the issued license, Chistyukhin specified. According to him, Russian investors will be able to use their assets.

On December 20, the Luxembourg Ministry of Finance issued a similar license to NSD. The headquarters of the international depositary Clearstream is in this country, Euroclear is based in Belgium. The Bank of Russia estimated the volume of assets locked in them at 6 trillion rubles.
