The year 2023 started with the LineageOS update. Open Source OS for Smartphones and Tablets Coming to LineageOS 20just a few months after the release of Android 13 on which it is based.
The operating system was launched in October 2022 and was ready in December, announced last Saturday (31). A long blog post by Lineage highlights the details of the software.
The main update is in the default camera app. Dubbed “Aperture”, it’s more like the Google Camera found on Pixel devices and offers more precise options, including video frame rate control, as well as using the CameraX API.
The LineageOS 20 news list is quite long, and also the merging of security patches from LineageOS 17.1 to 20 April 2022 to December 2022; Wizard setup to adapt to Android 13 and update WebView to Chromium 108.0.5359.79.
On the Lineage website, you can see a long list of devices that can update the operating system. These include Samsung, Xiaomi, and Motorola, as well as Pixel phones and a few models from other brands. However, since the installation process is quite technical, it is recommended for more experienced users.
