The number of self-employed in Russia increased 1.7 times during the year. According to the Federal Tax Service, the number of professional income tax payers has reached 6.5 million people. The most common employment among them is the provision of repair services.

The Federal Tax Service announced an increase in the number of self-employed workers to 6.56 million people

Statistics on the growth of the number of self-employed in Russia were compiled by the Federal Tax Service. In 2022, the number of professional income taxpayers increased by 2.7 million and reached 6.56 million people.

By the end of 2022, the self-employed paid 5.8 billion rubles in taxes, of which 1.3 billion rubles were for individuals and 4.5 billion rubles for legal entities. Individuals collectively received income in the amount of 40 billion rubles, legal entities – 86 billion rubles. The total income of the self-employed amounted to 125.7 billion rubles.

The most common activity performed by the self-employed was the provision of repair services – it stood out in popularity, surpassing the provision of trucking services. About 20% of all self-employed in Russia are engaged in repairs, trucks, IT services and beauty.

In 2022, companies with state participation tripled purchases of products and services from the self-employed, up to 3.4 billion rubles. At the same time, the largest increase in the volume of purchases fell on legal services – 31 million rubles (an increase of 128 times).

In December last year, the Ministry of Finance proposed to change the tax regime for the self-employed. In the department, the departments believe that the tax regime for the self-employed should be “limited” so that “certain people” can use it.
