Gazprom-Media froze the project of the music service “Audioclub” – “Kommersant”

On the suspension of the development of the music service “Audioclub” from “Gazprom-media” reports “Kommersant” with reference to the sources.

According to the publication, the reason for the service freeze was the departure of most of the team, including the managers. The decision to suspend the project to employees was announced at the end of 2022, the newspaper clarifies.

Furthermore, Gazprom-Media failed to agree on a budget for the further development of the Audio Club after an agreement was signed with one of the major content distributors in the summer of 2022, Kommersant writes.

The launch of Audio Club as part of a closed beta version was personally announced in April last year by the head of Gazprom-Media, Alexander Zharov. In September, the company launched a public beta test. In the same month, the latest update of the Audio Club app was released.

Gazprom-Media explained that they would not refuse to distribute content, but rather integrate it into Rutube (similar to Youtube) and the social network Yappy (similar to TikTok).
