The growing competition between WhatsApp and Telegram, Head of Meta’s messaging app distorts rival’s privacy. Will Cathcart criticized the other messenger on his personal Twitter account.
Referencing a report from the portal wired Cathcart opened a long thread on Telegram about end-to-end encryption, e2ee protocols. “Get the truth – especially before you use it for anything special,” he said.
“Telegram lacks the true transparency that most tech companies embrace. In addition to people failing to protect their messages, Telegram’s mistakes put people at risk,” Cathcart said.

List of WhatsApp boss followed by quoting create an application programming interface (API) that “seems to allow access to user content for mass surveillance”. It even linked to the rival app’s privacy policies, where there was a statement that user data is not passed on to governments.
We often see them getting credit for working as an ‘encrypted’ app, but they’re far from that and we hope people realize this before it’s too late.”
