VTB has assessed the potential growth of c2b payments through the SBP using a QR code this year. According to the bank, the amount of such payments in 2023 will double and will account for more than 10% of all card transactions. The growth in payment demand will provide an opportunity to pay without using a card, according to VTB.
VTB Bank analysts predicted a multiple increase in c2b payments via the SBP using a QR code in 2023. Based on the results of the current year, the share of such payments will increase to more than 10% of all card transactions, reported the bank’s press service.
In 2022, the share of FPS payments was approximately 5% of all card transactions. In 2023, it will exceed 10%, VTB predicts.
The growth in demand for this type of payment is associated with the possibility of making payments without using a physical card. Russians are actively using SBP payments as an alternative to contactless payment via smartphone, the bank noted.
During the whole of 2022, VTB clients made 12.5 million transactions through the FPS for a total of RUB 39 billion. More than half of the transactions took place in the fourth quarter of 2022.
