According to the company, in January 2023 alone, the number of DDoS attacks acting as protection increased by 35% compared to the same period last year. According to StormWall experts, the main purpose of the attackers was to disable the IT infrastructure of organizations.
Also, the reasons for such attacks include hacking systems to gain unauthorized access to user or company data.
Hackers are reportedly using DDoS attacks to divert attention from infiltrating the organization or viewing information that has already been obtained.
If the victim company did not have reliable protection against DDoS, the information security department had to direct all its efforts to protecting the IT infrastructure from attacks. The company stated that this weakens the systems’ protection against other threats.
