All apples contain natural beeswax. It is located directly on the surface of the apple, that is, in the peel. The amount of this wax may vary according to the variety, but it is necessary to protect the fruit from pests and to retain moisture.

In hot climates, apples have fewer waxes than cold ones. Therefore, in cold weather, the skin of the apple becomes brighter and oilier. And so it can be in fresh fruits. The fact that natural wax does not harm human health does not mean that the product is of poor quality.

In addition, the fruits are rubbed with synthetic wax to keep them fresh longer during long transports. But all synthetic waxes are also subjected to special tests and are safe.

Also, the surface of store-bought apples may still contain pesticides or some other chemicals used during the growing of the fruit. Therefore, thoroughly rinse store-bought apples before eating them.
