Experts explained to the publication that if the device is activated abroad, its subsequent fate is not so interesting for Apple.

But at the same time, not all sellers activate abroad. That’s why small retailers carrying “up to 100 pieces” batches continue to bring non-activated devices with them, but one source told Izvestia that such iPhones will cost more.

According to another Izvestia source, the reason for importing already activated gadgets is because foreign partners are afraid to break the contract with Apple: if the product is tracked, the device will report from where it was activated. “Thus, Apple can understand who resells the smartphone in the Russian Federation and terminate the contract with this company”said the source.

M-Video-Eldorado, Citilink, MTS, VimpelCom and Tele2 did not respond to a broadcast request as to whether they are selling such devices.

MegaFon Sales Director David Borzilov said that there are no previously activated iPhones in the retail networks of the mobile operator. After the purchase, the customer registers his new smartphone himself.

According to experts interviewed by Izvestia, the sale of already active iPhones will not affect consumers only if a person uses the device in Russia and has it repaired in our country.
