Gray smartphones have almost completely ceased to be imported into Russia, due to a shortage, the prices for such devices increased by 3-4 thousand rubles, Izvestia found out.

Russia stopped importing smartphones in gray imports

Several sellers of the largest radio market in Moscow spoke about the termination of supplies. It is argued that if the situation does not change, in the near future the cost of imported devices without going through customs procedures will reach the cost of devices supplied under the allowed parallel import scheme.

So, today in the M.Video-Eldorado and re:Store networks, the iPhone 14 Pro Max 512 GB costs from 153 thousand rubles. And in the markets this model can be bought for 132 thousand rubles. At the same time, sellers say that by the end of the month those insignificant stocks that are there today will also be gone.

Eldar Murtazin, Lead Analyst at Mobile Research Group, confirms the information about the termination of supplies of gray smartphones. He recalled that in February this year, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed a decree appointing Ruslan Davydov as acting head of the Federal Customs Service (FCS). After that, Murtazin shares his observations, the customs stopped allowing such devices through.

Another reason for blocking the flow of gray devices into the country was the volume of such imports, the expert adds. In 2021, approximately 5% of smartphones (approximately 1.6 million units) were imported under this scheme. In 2022, 30% of all gadgets were delivered this way, which is equivalent to 7.8 million pieces.

The FCS, for its part, recalled that the importation of merchandise without paying customs duties is contraband.
