The host of the YouTube channel Techniqued compared two Xiaomi smartphones in terms of photo and video quality: Redmi Note 12 Pro and Poco X4 Pro. Is there any difference between the two in terms of camera?

The Poco X5 Pro has a 108MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 2MP macro lens. The front camera of the device has a resolution of 16 MP.

The Redmi Note 12 Pro has a 50MP main lens, an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 2MP macro camera. As for the selfie camera, it’s the same as on the Poco.

Smartphones and processors are different from each other. Redmi Note 12 Pro has Dimensity 1080, Poco X4 Pro has Snapdragon 778G.

The expert began to compare the cameras with the photos taken during the day. Overall, the colors in these photos are slightly brighter and more saturated on the Poco, while on the Redmi they are more natural. Also, the shades on Poco are warmer compared to Redmi. Otherwise, there is no difference between similar pictures.

As for the ultra wide-angle camera, it is better on the Redmi Note 12 Pro in terms of clarity. Also, with Redmi, there are still cooler tones in the pictures.

More natural colors are obtained in Redmi in photos taken with a macro camera. Poco, on the other hand, makes the colors more saturated than they are.

Either way, the portrait shots look very similar. Again they differ mainly only in color reproduction. Poco has slightly more saturated tones than Redmi.

Evening and night photos are brighter on Redmi Note 12 Pro. Also, these images have more detail and less noise. But generally speaking, both smartphones take pictures in low light – very similar in terms of quality. At the same time, Redmi also has an optical stabilization sensor, so it takes better photos when there is no light.

Selfie photos come out more naturally on Poco. You can see sample images below.

Both smartphones can shoot 4K 30fps video. However, if the Poco has electronic image stabilization, the Redmi has optical image stabilization as well. It also works better on Poco X4 Pro and has stabilization in all formats. Speaking of the ultra-wide-angle camera, the colors will be better on the Redmi Note 12 Pro when shooting with it.

There is no clear winner between the Poco X4 Pro and Redmi Note 12 Pro in terms of photo and video quality. But if we evaluate smartphones in general, Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro will be advantageous in general camera performance.
