There are no longer any problems with the transit of European goods to Russia through Turkey, VPost reports, citing employees of various logistics companies. Since March 14, customs has been steadily clearing cargo across all modes of transportation.
Last week it became known about the problems of logistics companies with the delivery of sanctioned goods to Russia. Market participants complained that previously agreed flight reservations are being cancelled.
At the same time, the authorities did not officially notify that they were stopping traffic; then Turkey would have to admit that it is involved in supplying sanctioned goods to Russia.
On March 10, VPost reported that logistics companies started receiving notifications from Turkish partners about the suspension of transit for “technical reasons”, promising to resume it in a few days, which it did.
Turkey is part of a single customs zone with the European Union, and had to enter data from the February EU sanctions package into the New Computerized Transit System (NCTS), clarifies Vpost.
In 2022, Turkey has become one of the main hubs for the delivery of European and American goods to Russia: over the past year, exports to Russia have increased from $5.8 billion to $9.3 billion.
