Avtostat prepared a study on the share of Chinese cars in the Russian market.
According to experts, in January-February 2023, cars from China occupied a third of the Russian market, 3.5 times more than in the same period in 2022. Last year, the share of Chinese cars was 10%, this year it is already 36%.
At the same time, in 2021, Chinese cars accounted for 9% of the Russian market, and in 2020 – only 4%. In the past three years, China’s car share in Russia has increased 9-fold.
In the first two months of 2023, the most new traffic police registrations of Chinese-made cars were Chery (12.3 thousand cars, +114%), Haval (9.1 thousand cars, +51.2 %), Geely (6.7 thousand cars, + 87.1%).
According to analysts, brands from China account for 18% of the Russian car market, or 87 of the 486 models. This year, participation will grow to 25-30%, experts predict.
