In February, Gurman reported that Apple had made significant progress in non-invasive blood glucose monitoring technology. It allows diabetics and others to control their sugar levels without having to pierce the skin.

The Apple system uses a laser that goes under the skin. Although the concept is already ready, the company will need to develop algorithms and embedded sensors before bringing the technology to market. It’s also important to note that the company also needs to shrink the system down to fit the tiny, thin Apple Watch. Gürman believes this process will “take at least three to seven more years.”
