The authors of the NJ Tech YouTube channel tested the performance of Intel Core i9-10900K and i3-12100F processors in modern games. They were also tested with 1080p and 1440p resolutions, as well as RTX 3080 and RX 6650 XT graphics cards. The specifications of these processors are below.
In Assetto Cosa Competizione with DX12 with medium preset, average FPS with the RTX 3080 12GB was 113 fps and 118 fps (1080p, i9-10900K and i3-13100F, respectively), 112 and 114 fps (1440p) with the RX 6650. XT – 115fps and 120fps (1080p).
Cyberpunk 2077 was also released with DX12 at High graphics settings and High textures. With the RTX 3080 graphics card, we managed to average 84 fps (i9-10900K) and 77 fps (i3-13100F) at 1080p, 82 fps and 74 fps at 1440p; With RX 6650 XT graphics card – 81 fps and 72 fps in Full HD.
Far Cry 6 came with DX12, high preset and TAA. With the RTX 3080 in this game, the average framerate was 1080p – 110fps in both cases, 1440p – 108fps in both cases. With the RX 6650 XT we managed to average 113 fps and 119 fps at 1080p (i9-10900K and i3-13100F).
Watch Dogs: Legion saw average performance with DX12, Very High preset, RTX 3080 at 111 fps and 87 fps (1080p, i9-10900K and i3-13100F), 111 fps and 86 fps c (1440p) with TAA . At 1080p, frame rates averaged 112 fps and 94 fps with the RX 6650 XT.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider came with DX12, Highest preset and TAA. The RTX 3080 averaged 154 fps (1080p, i9-10900K) and 126 fps (1080p, i3-13100F), 137 and 124 fps (1440p), 111 fps with the RX 6650 XT in both cases.
Released with Dota 2, DX11, Top Graphics, 100% Scale. On average, this game managed to achieve 153 fps (i9-10900K) and 126 fps (i3-13100F) at 1080p with the RTX 3080, 153 fps and 126 fps at 1440p, respectively. With the Full HD RX 6650 XT graphics card, the average FPS was 151 fps and 121 fps.
In CS:GO with DX9, Very High, MSAA/FSAA Off and TFx16 graphics settings, average frame rates with the RTX 3080 were 403 fps and 434 fps (1080p, i9-10900K and i3-13100F respectively), 397 and 433 fps. (1440p), with the RX 6650 XT – 341 fps and 374 fps (1080p).

In all 15 games the difference between the i9-10900K and the i3-13100F was not that great. However, the Core i3-13100F processor still held the lead. It outperformed the RTX 3080 by 9% (1080p) and 7% (1440p) and the RX 6650 XT by 5% (1080p).
