Kicksharing Whoosh launches electric bike rental in St. Petersburg and the Moscow region, the company said.
The fleet of bicycles in St. Petersburg will reach 1.5 thousand, in the Moscow region – 2.5 thousand. As reported, each bicycle cost the company about 120 thousand rubles. Thus, Whoosh’s total investment can be estimated at 480 million rubles.
Now the devices can already be rented in the northern capital, in the near future they will appear in the suburbs.
An electric city bike is designed for trips of 7 km (for comparison: the average distance for a scooter is 3-5 km). Ninebot B100H devices were developed in 2023, in Russia they are presented only by Whoosh.
The company has equipped the e-bikes with an IoT module of its own design. Thus, the devices connect to the company’s internal system, that is, they reduce speed in slow areas and can be left in virtual parking lots.
To start the motor, you need to start pedaling. It also turns off automatically: at about 25 km/h. The power of the electric motor is 25 kW. According to traffic regulations, this transport belongs to the category “bicycles” and rights are not required for travel.
The bikes can support a weight of up to 120 kg, the saddle is adjustable for any height. The weight of the electric bike itself is 31.5 kg.
