The Rust Foundation’s recommendations sparked widespread anger among Rust language users, who found the new policy excessively bureaucratic and restrictive.

The new rules include restrictions on the use of the Rust name and logo on products or the promotion of products without express permission. The use of the Rust name in the titles of articles, books, and tutorials is permitted, provided it is clearly stated that the Rust project and the Rust Foundation are not involved in the creation or review of the content. In addition, the use of the Rust logo in corporate social networks for personalization is prohibited, and any changes to the logo other than scaling are prohibited.

The draft also states that conferences and events related to the Rust language and other products of the organization should ban firearms.
