China’s particular “passion” for purchasing this equipment likely stems from US actions to limit China’s ability to manufacture its own advanced chips. Meanwhile, the Netherlands and Japan are helping the States.
“Record-high semiconductor manufacturing equipment sales in 2022 are driven by the industry’s effort to build the factory capacity needed to support long-term growth and innovation in key end markets, including HPC and automotive.”said Ajit Manocha, President and CEO of SEMI.
