Removing the restriction allows users to sync their Apple Watch with multiple devices at the same time. While it’s unclear whether the setup process will still require an iPhone, this new feature could be game changer, at least for those who regularly switch between multiple Apple devices. Such people do not particularly like the existing restrictions.
This solution, besides simply improving the experience of existing users, may encourage more people to buy an Apple Watch as it will allow them to use their iPhone even if they don’t.
Meanwhile, the rumors are in line with Bloomberg’s latest report that Apple is bringing a Health app to the iPad for the first time in iPadOS 17, which could further expand the reach of the device.
