Obstetrician-gynecologist Olga Ulankina at the Gemotest Laboratory told Gazeta.Ru that sexual intercourse during the first six weeks after childbirth can lead to a number of complications – infections, bleeding and poor healing of the vagina and uterus.
In the late period after birth (six weeks after the first day of the child’s life), the internal organs and systems of the woman return to the “pre-pregnancy” state. Meanwhile, sex can interfere with the healing and healing of organs.
The specialist emphasizes that regardless of how the birth goes – naturally or by cesarean section – the uterus is actively shrinking in the first week after delivery. The organ will only fully heal after a period of four to six weeks. The gynecologist states that the internal pharynx closes on the tenth day after birth before entering the uterus, while the external pharynx returns to its normal state after three weeks.
Before resuming sexual activity, the specialist advised me to come to a scheduled appointment with a gynecologist, who should ensure that the woman’s recovery goes smoothly.
